A Seminar for Divorcing Parents

As Required by Bexar County District Courts

One half of all marriages in the United States end in divorce. The effects on the individuals involved, especially the children, can be devastating. We help parents and their children regain a sense of family after divorce.

Kids In Divorce Situations (KIDS) offers families the opportunity to increase their awareness of the impact of divorce. The four-hour KIDS seminar will help parents understand that divorce is a process, not a singular event, and help them develop strategies to effectively manage changing parent/child relationships.

KIDS seminars are approved and required by the Bexar County District Courts for all divorcing parents and meet the court divorce education requirement. A Certificate of Completion is given to participants.

How to explain divorce to children

What changes to expect in parent/child relationships

How to make parenting decisions based on the child’s needs

How to build a positive co-parenting relationship

How to manage co-parenting conflict resulting from divorce

How children are affected by divorce based on child development at different ages

How parents can help their children throughout each phase of development

What adults and children experience after separation and divorce

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE SEMINAR:

Relaxed, small gathering (20 people or less) of parents who are in the process of divorce

All seminars will be held at the offices of the San Antonio Kids Exchange.

Please do not bring children to the seminar as child care is not provided.

FEES:

The fees for the parents’ seminar is $30.00 per person. Check or money order must be payable to San Antonio Kids Exchange and mailed with your registration. A reduced fee of $5.00 is available to parents who receive:

AFDC
Legal Aid Services
Pro Bono Attorney Services

Documentation must be included with your registration.

Parents are allowed to reschedule their seminar one (1) time only. After that, you must re-register and pay again. Fees are non-refundable.

SEMINAR TIMES:

Wednesday: 5:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Sunday: 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

You must call for exact seminar dates, as seminars are not held on every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.
