Ms. Valerga received her undergraduate degree in history with a minor in psychology from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, in 1984. 

She graduated from St. Mary's University School of Law with a Juris Doctorate in 1990, and has been licensed to practice law by the Texas Supreme Court since 1990.

From 1990-91, Ms. Valerga served as a briefing attorney to the Honorable Samuel B. Kent, United States District Judge, Galveston, Texas.

In October, 1991, Ms. Valerga opened her office for the practice of law in San Antonio, Texas.  In about 1994, she began limiting her practice to family law.

Ms. Valerga is presently serving her fourth term as an officer of the Family Law Section of the San Antonio Bar Association and her first term as a director of the San Antonio Family Lawyers Association.  She is a member of the  Family Law Sections of the American Bar Association and State Bar of Texas.  Since 1994, Ms. Valerga has been a  continuing member of the College of the State Bar of Texas.  Ms. Valerga has been licensed to practice law by the Texas Supreme Court since 1990.  

Ms. Valerga is fluent in French, and speaks some Spanish.
